MEET JOHN.

John von Pamer is an editorial and advertising photographer. He splits his time between Los Angeles, CA and Brooklyn, NY.

John grew up in the Virginia suburbs of DC and began working in graphic design in high school. He transitioned into art direction when he moved to New York City in 1996, where he worked for SPIN Magazine and Morgan Stanley’s art department before he turned to photography.

The “von” in von Pamer, usually a nobility particle, but in Jon’s case was bestowed upon him by the staff of American PHOTO Magazine during the seven years when he was Associate Art Director there. John says of his name, ‘My forefathers are butchers, those touched by the spirit and heavy drinkers--not, that I know of, kings and queens.’
